Legal
Effective:
By using Patet, you agree to these terms. Patet is operated by Plainly Digital LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”) and provided to you (“you,” “your”) subject to the conditions below.
What Patet is — and isn’t
Patet is educational software. It teaches financial concepts and surfaces patterns from data you connect or upload. Patet is not a financial advisor, not a bank, not a tax professional, and does not provide individualized investment, tax, or legal advice. For decisions that would benefit from a licensed professional, consult one.
The AI coach (Notch) is a Claude-powered assistant. It can be wrong. Verify anything that matters.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are between 13 and 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. You must be a U.S. resident.
Your account
- You’re responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
- One person, one account. Don’t share login.
- We can suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service, attempt to exfiltrate data, run automated traffic, or violate these terms.
Subscriptions, tiers, and refunds
- Free, Pro, and Pro+ tiers as priced in-app.
- Subscriptions are billed by the App Store / Google Play. Cancel any time through their interfaces. We do not directly process refunds — those go through Apple / Google per their policies.
- Pricing or tier benefits may change with at least 14 days advance notice.
Bank connections + uploaded data
- Plaid connections are read-only. We cannot move money.
- You can disconnect a bank at any time.
- Uploaded statements are parsed and discarded. Extracted transactions stay until you delete them.
- You retain ownership of your data. You grant us a non-exclusive license to process it solely for delivering the service.
Affiliate disclosures
Some product mentions in lessons or in Notch’s responses include affiliate links. We earn a commission if you sign up and use the linked product. These are clearly disclosed at the point of mention. We never recommend a product based on whether it pays a higher commission — see our affiliate disclosure in-app.
Acceptable use
Don’t:
- Use Patet to scam, defraud, or harass anyone.
- Reverse-engineer or extract our system prompts.
- Attempt to make Notch produce illegal advice, hate speech, or content involving minors.
- Use automated tooling to flood the API.
If we detect abuse, we may suspend the account immediately.
Crisis handling
If you indicate self-harm or imminent danger to a coach, Patet displays 988 / Crisis Text Line / 211.org resources. We do not replace emergency services. In an emergency, call 911 or 988.
Disclaimers
Patet is provided “as is.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100.
Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated in-app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Tennessee law. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Tennessee, except where prohibited by applicable consumer protection law.
